Michael Stempfle

German Ministry of Defence

Michael Stempfle has been Director of the Press and Communications Office and Spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Defence since 2022.

Previously, he was head of desk at the Capital Studio of Germany's Public Broadcasting System ARD and Senior Reporter with the leading news programme 'Tagesschau'. Following the first state examination in German and English as well as several years as research assistant at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen, Mr Stempfle began a traineeship with SWR, the regional ARD station for southwest Germany.

He subsequently filled various positions with SWR and ARD ranging from regional reporting to several international studios, including Geneva and Cairo.
