Lieutenant General Andreas Hoppe

Bundeswehr 

Lieutenant General Hoppe, born in 1965, joined the Bundeswehr in 1984 as an air force officer candidate. Following his officer training and studies in electrical engineering he trained to become a jet pilot and TORNADO fighter bomber pilot. He had several command assignments, including flight operations officer and commander of various German Air Force operational wings, and later became Commander, Fighter Bomber Wing 31 "B” / Tactical Air Wing 31 “B” in Nörvenich. Assignments as desk officer and branch chief at the Federal Ministry of Defence prepared him for his first assignment as General at the Air Force Forces Command. He then served as deputy Director-General for Strategy and Operations at the FMoD. Since April 2024, Lieutenant General Hoppe has held the post of Bundeswehr Vice Chief of Defence.
