James H. Mackey is the Director of Security Policy and Partnerships at NATO Headquarters. In this capacity, he leads seven outstanding teams within the Political Affairs Division responsible for overseeing NATO’s political relationship with Allies, partner countries, and other international organisations.
During his almost two-decade career with NATO, Mr. Mackey has held a wide variety of positions focusing primarily on NATO’s political dialogue and practical cooperation with partner countries.
He is a recipient of the NATO Secretary General’s Award for Excellence (2008) and a graduate of the NATO Executive Development Programme (2010-2011).
Mr. Mackey is a former Luce Scholar, and spent 2000-2001 teaching international relations theory at the Beijing Foreign Affairs College. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Princeton University and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
