JFC Naples - STRATCOM Advisor

Group Captain Alexandra Mason

Mason read Geography at university as a RAF Supply Bursar before attending Officer Training in 1998 followed by Supply Officer Training. The early years of her career saw her undertake a number of mobility and movements related roles, including commanding a Mechanical Transport Flight and being an Air Mobile Team Leader. She spent the majority of her time on operations in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, the UAE (2 tours) and Iraq (3 tours). Following tours as a Supply Officer Training Instructor and then Deputy Squadron Commander of No. 2 Mechanical Transport Squadron, she was selected to be Staff Officer to Chief of the Air Staff.

Following her time in London, she deployed to Afghanistan to be the Senior Air Movements Officer before a Resource Plans appointment at the Joint Helicopter Command Headquarters and then a posting to the Permanent Joint Headquarters. Her squadron command was at Logistics Squadron, RAF Brize Norton, the home of the Air Transport Force.

She attended Advanced Command training where she was awarded a Cormorant Fellowship from King’s College London, before commanding Joint Force Support (Middle East), and then Chief Plans on the Standing Joint Force Logistic Component. Thereafter, Mason became the Station Commander of RAF St Mawgan before returning to London to work in Capability Strategy, Finance Military Capability. She became Assistant Head Defence Movements in 2019 before volunteering for a broadening oversees tour in NATO and undertaking the role of Strategic Communications Advisor to the Commander at Joint Forces Command Naples in January 2022.
