Steadfast Defender 2021 Media Opportunities

CINCU, Romania - Media representatives are invited to the Joint National Training Centre, Cincu, to join the Rapid Reaction phase of Exercise Steadfast Defender 2021. International forces from twelve NATO nations are taking part in the exercise which will see some 4,000 troops and more than 600 vehicles and aircraft train at the Cincu training area.
The exercise began on May 19 when NATO alerted the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) to move from Turkey through Bulgaria and finally into Romania. It will conclude on June 2. The VJTF is tasked to be ready to deploy within days and forms the spearhead force of the much larger NATO Reaction Force (NRF).
During the periods below, a variety of activities and training events can be observed.

Background Information

Exercise Steadfast Defender 2021 is the first in a new series of long-planned NATO exercises to ensure that our forces are trained, able to operate together, and ready to respond to any threat from any direction. The wider exercise will demonstrate the value of North America and Europe working together to keep our nations safe in a more challenging security environment.
