Sergeant Tony Wong grew up in Bradley, Illinois, USA and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2009 with degrees in Jazz Studies and Music Education. He continued his education at San Diego State University earning a master's degree in Jazz Studies in 2011. After three years teaching general music and choir in public school, Tony won an audition with the United States Army Bands as a saxophonist. Since 2014, Tony has been assigned to the 1st Armored Division Band in El Paso, Texas; United States Army Europe Band & Chorus in Germany; and most recently won an audition with NATO's S.H.A.P.E. International Band in Belgium. Tony has performed for key members of the United States government to include Generals, Governors, U.S. Ambassadors, and, during the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, the President of the United States in Normandy, France. Sergeant Wong's performances have brought him to Mexico, Jordan, Kuwait, Eritrea, Switzerland, Bosnia, Germany, France, Turkey, Portugal, Romania, Denmark, and North Macedonia. Here at the SHAPE International Band he serves as a saxophone player in Task Force X and the NATO Jazz Orchestra as well being our social media manager.
