On March 27th, the SHAPE International Band sent a contingent of musicians to provide musical support in Tirana, Albania for the 10th anniversary of the nation's ascension into the NATO Alliance. Members of the band spent three days of cultural and musical exchange, performing with musicians of the Albanian Armed Forces Band.
After a long day of travel, the band set to work early, performing for the 10th Anniversary Gala. The group performed two sets of popular music, folk, and Americana for the event's attendees.
The following day, musicians participated in a parade through the capital city of Tirana led in part by SHAPE International Band commander, Chief Warrant Officer Four James Bettencourt. SHAPE International Band musicians marched alongside members of the Albanian Armed Forces Band as well as hundreds of servicemembers from within the Albanian Armed Forces. The parade culminated in a ceremonial performance in the Tirana Main Square.
