MONS, Belgium – Allied and Partner Nation Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (CSEL) gathered in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Wednesday, Apr. 10, 2024, at a breakout session during the annual Military Strategic Partnership Conference (MSPC).
This opportunity to share best practices, align initiatives and take away tangible outputs will drive the interoperability of Partner and Allied NCO corps for the future
“This event is the perfect opportunity to share our experiences as CSELs on the approach of working with our commanders and how we can create a good working relationship,” said SHAPE Partnership Directorate CSEL, WO1 Steven Catherwood. “This opportunity to share best practices, align initiatives and take away tangible outputs will drive the interoperability of Partner and Allied NCO corps for the future,” Catherwood added.

The CSEL session allowed participants to share ideas and thoughts on how NATO can support Partner nation NCOs in the future and how working processes can be improved. One important area of concentration was NCO Professional Development and Professional Military Education with a focus on NATO accredited schools available for Partner nation attendees.
“Partnership for Peace provides educational opportunities that would otherwise be difficult to access. Operationally, it affords us the means by which to maintain standards and strive for interoperability,” said Sergeant Major Keith Caffrey, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman for the Irish Defence Forces.
In accordance with the objectives of the MSPC, the CSEL session contributed to building confidence on issues of common interest and achieving better mutual understanding between NATO and its Partners.
