Annual NATO Conference held in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM - SHAPE Partnership Directorate (PD) held the annual NATO Operational Capabilities Concept Evaluation and Feedback Programme (OCC E&F) Conference in Stockholm, Sweden from Oct. 15 to 20, 2023.

This year’s conference, hosted by the Swedish Armed Forces, saw over 80 participants from 30 Allied and Partner Nations in attendance including representatives from NATO’s International Military Staff, SHAPE and staff from throughout Allied Command Operations.

This forum allows all staffs to jointly review significant achievements in 2023 and look forward to 2024

"This event is vital to reinforce our excellent collaboration and cooperation between the Alliance and Partner Nations, including enhancement of interoperability and operational capabilities through NATO Force Standards and evaluations,” said Brigadier General Martin Remes, Assistant Chief of Staff Military Cooperation, SHAPE PD.

“This forum allows all staffs to jointly review significant achievements in 2023 and look forward to 2024. OCC Partners and Allied evaluators are the backbone of the programme, contributing to professionalism, transparency, and credibility of evaluations. I look forward to further Partner Nations’ contributions, which are most welcome,” General Remes added.

The objective of the annual OCC E&F conference is to share experiences concerning the latest development of the programme and to reflect on this year's achievements including units’ certification. During the latest conference, participants agreed on the common way forward, cooperative ambitions for the upcoming year and events activity plan in the area of Interoperability and Operational Capabilities development of Partners’ unit.

Changes in the global security dynamic influence OCC E&F Programme interest and implementation. Since 2022, NATO has recognised a noticeable expansion and interest for NATO – Partners activities and cooperation.
