Major General Barre R. Seguin is the Deputy Chief of Staff, Strategic Employment Directorate, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Casteau, Belgium. He is responsible for ensuring Allied Command Operations Conventional and Nuclear Forces are ready to carry out collective defense for the NATO Alliance. He supervises and directs SHAPE's Comprehensive Crisis and Management Centre as well as the J2 Branch, Joint Effects Branch, Nuclear Operations Branch, and the Office of the Provost Marshall.
General Seguin entered the Air Force as a distinguished graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He has flown more than 3700 hours as an F-16C, C-208B, T-37 and T-38 pilot. General Seguin has commanded at multiple levels of the U.S. Air Force, including the 425th Fighter Squadron, 8th Operations Group, 14st Flying Training Wing and 31st Fighter Wing.
Prior to this assignment, he was the Commander, NATO Air Command-Afghanistan, and Commander, 9th Air and Space Expeditionary Task Force-Afghanistan.
General Seguin holds a Masters Degree in Military Operational Art and Sciences. He attended Air Command and Staff College, National Security Studies Program, Combined Joint Forces Air, Land, and Maritime Component Commander Courses, Senior Joint Information Operations Application Course, and was a Senior Fellow, George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies. General Seguin has held various staff positions to include Headquarters Air Combat Command, Special Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Senior Executive Officer to the Vice Chief of Staff, U.S. Air Force, and Director, Strategy, Plans, and Programs, U.S. Africa Command.
