SHAPE welcomes new Deputy supreme allied commander Europe

MONS, Belgium – Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) welcomed its new Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) Admiral Sir Keith Edward Blount KCB OBE on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

Admiral Blount follows General Sir Tim Radford after three years of responsibility.

It is a great honour to take over as the DSACEUR at such a pivotal point in history

"It is a great honour to take over as the DSACEUR at such a pivotal point in history," said Admiral Blount. "I'm immensely proud to be appointed to such a prestigious post. I look forward to serving Allied Command Operations (ACO) and the Alliance more broadly, building on the exceptional foundations laid by my predecessor, General Radford."

The position of DSACEUR serves as the second in command to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Christopher G. Cavoli. The role was first held by Field Marshal the Viscount Bernard Law Montgomery, who served as DSACEUR from 1951 until 1958.
