Video: NATO supports Afghan evacuees

In August, more than 120,000 people were flown out on hundreds of Allied flights, one of the largest airlifts in history. NATO has worked around the clock to coordinate evacuations from Afghanistan.

Now, NATO and Allies are supporting the safe resettlement of Afghan evacuees, providing transport flights, medical support and civil affairs teams. Some evacuees have been resettled already. Others are being safely housed at military facilities in Europe as they await resettlement.

Not all Afghans at risk have been evacuated so far. But we will not forget them. Together with the rest of the international community, we will continue to do all we can to bring them to safety.

In August 2021, around 2,000 Afghans who worked with NATO, and their families, were evacuated from Afghanistan. Now, many of them are in the process of being resettled in Allied countries, including in the United States.

NATO is working with Allies to provide housing, care and support while arrangements are made for follow-on movement to Allied countries.
