SACEUR recognises Allied Command Operations members

MONS, Belgium – General Tod D. Wolters, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), presented 42 members of Allied Command Operations (ACO) with the SACEUR Recognition Award during a ceremony at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019.

The awardees came from units across ACO including Joint Force Command Brunssum, Joint Force Command Naples, Allied Air Command, Allied Land Command, Allied Maritime Command, NATO Allied Ground Surveillance Force, SHAPE, NATO Communication and Information Systems Group and NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force. Recipients were selected for their significant contributions and impact to the NATO mission.

Prior to handing out the awards General Wolters paid a special tribute to the families of the recipients.

“My sincere thanks to the families for the sacrifices that you have made to allow these award winners to receive some recognition today and I know I speak on behalf of all the award winners that they owe it all to you,” said General Wolters.

The SACEUR Recognition Award was established in order to recognise exceptional service and outstanding individual achievement in a way that may be career enhancing for the recipient.

Each awardee brought a unique skillset and leadership ability to their respective commands aiding in the success of NATO’s various missions.

Allied Command Operations (ACO) Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) Command Sergeant Major Siim Saliste also attended the ceremony and noted the work behind each award.

"We have outstanding performers throughout and every day they do their best to guarantee the success of our missions, operations and activities,” said Command Sergeant Major Saliste. “The recipients well deserved their award; I also want to say thank you to all their leadership and teammates who helped them achieve great contributions to NATO.”
