Russia Opinion Formers visit SHAPE

MONS, Belgium –Eight guests from the Russian Opinion Formers visited Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019.

The purpose of the visit was to highlight NATO's commitment to transparency. For several months SHAPE and NATO Headquarters have welcomed various Russian organisations in an effort to share perspective into NATO's on-going operations.

"It is incredibly valuable to continue these visits with groups from Russia," said SHAPE's Chief of Strategic Communications Mr. Mark Laity. "Sharing our perspectives and increasing our understanding between one another are vital to maintaining our effort of communicating transparency from our organisation."

During the visit, guests attended briefings covering current operations and the Allied Command Operations perspective on the NATO-Russia relationship. The group also toured some of SHAPE's facilities and attended a question and answer session with Mr. Laity.

The previous day, the group visited NATO Headquarters in Brussels learning the political side of NATO-Russia relations.
