NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Wolters speaks with Russian Chief of General Staff, General Gerasimov

SHAPE, Belgium - General Tod D. Wolters, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and First Deputy Minister of Defence, conducted a telephone conversation June 3, 2019.

Today’s telephone conversation reflects NATO’s priority for transparency and predictability, and demonstrates a commitment to use this important channel of communication between NATO and Russian military authorities for this purpose. 

This is the first telephone conversation for General Wolters and General Gerasimov.  

General Wolters and General Gerasimov agreed to continue using the military lines of communication in the future.
