TRIDENT JUPITER is a high-intensity computer-assisted command post exercise (CAX/CPX), the first of a three-part training campaign allowing command teams and staffs to practice Small and Major Joint Operations Plus.
Exercises help our forces work together effectively, and with our partners to prepare for future operations
“NATO exercises, including TRIDENT JUPITER, are an important element of the Alliance’s readiness and continued adaption to new security challenges,” Brigadier Jasper De Quincey Adams, the Commander of the SHAPE Comprehensive Crisis Operations Management Centre. “They ensure that our forces are able to respond to threats from any direction and demonstrate that the NATO Alliance stands ready to defend all Allies and is committed to protecting our shared values."

As a Collective Defence exercise based on a fictitious Article 5 scenario, TRIDENT JUPITER 2019-1 will demonstrate NATO’s readiness and its continued adaptation to new security threats. It will also demonstrate the shared commitment between the Allies to maintaining the continued security of Europe.

"Exercises help our forces work together effectively, and with our partners to prepare for future operations. When conducting exercises, Allies are fully transparent, consistent with NATO policy and in full compliance with their international commitments and obligations," Brigadier Jasper De Quincey Adams added.
The exercise is conducted at Component Commands throughout the NATO Command Structure, including NATO Response Force 2020 (NRF20), Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) and Allied and Partner nations.
