BALATONAKARATTYA, Hungary – Allied Command Operations (ACO) Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Siim Saliste visited the 7th annual Hungarian Senior Enlisted Leader Course in Balatonakarattya, Hungary on November 12, 2019.
The course welcomed guests and senior NCO’s from NATO Allies and Partners during its International Week where various guest speakers provided briefs and insights into their world as Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (CSEL).
“It’s is important for these leaders to get these types of training but when you add the element of bringing in their international colleagues it only makes this course more significant,” said CSM Saliste. “Engaging in these discussions of how we can best influence our NCO’s coming through the ranks is critical, and we owe it to growing leaders to provide them with opportunities and tools for success.”
Sixty participants and staff joined from twelve countries in the weeklong course, in addition this year the ten Hungarian CSEL Course students also attended.
Guest speakers included Allied Command Transformation CSM Tibor Bogdan, the former CSEL of the Hungarian Defence Forces as well as current Hungarian CSEL István Kriston.
“The course is very selective in Hungary but also throughout the other nations that send their senior NCO’s to attend,” said CSM Kriston. “This course allows the guest speakers to impart their knowledge and experience to these future Sergeant Majors and also allows NCO’s from the various nations to meet, network and work towards the goal of standardizing the skills of what makes a great senior leader.”
Throughout the week, attendees participated in various cultural events, briefs and team building events. With the training received, the senior NCO’s will take back what they have learned in an effort to standardize expectations for NCO’s ACO-wide. The international portion of the course runs through November 17, culminating in the 7th annual Hungarian NCO Ball.
