50 Allies, Partners participate in strategic conference

DEAD SEA, Jordan - A key element of the Partnerships Directorate Conference this week has been the opportunity for NATO Partner nations to discuss key areas of mutual interest. A key issue on the agenda was mutual security and a measure to fight global terrorism. The Bi-Lateral meetings have provided platforms to discuss national topics including areas of defence and deterrence.

"This Annual Military Partnerships Conference provides significant opportunities for Partner nations to meet and discuss a wide variety of topics. This also involves many subject matter experts that provide further material and information,'' said Colonel Giorgi Kbiltsetskhlashvili, Georgian Military Representative to the Partnerships Directorate. '' I am very proud of Georgia's contribution to NATO and here in Jordan we have discussed other special programmes and reinforcing the 'train-the-trainer' concept.''

In addition to key briefings from the International Military Staffs, the conference allowed the various NATO Country Officers to engage with Partners and Partner representatives from government and the military.

"As an international coordination cell officer, I have been very impressed with the way nations have actively collaborated with each other and particularly with Georgia's contribution'' said French Navy Captain Olivier Bouvier, SHAPE Partnerships Directorate. "Georgia is a great example of Military Partner co-operation where as a nation continues to punch above its weight in both activities and force contributions to NATO Missions.”
