MONS, Belgium - The NATO Communication and Information Systems Group (NCISG) has successfully deployed its Signal Support Group (SSG) to provide Deployable CIS Support for Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2018.

NCISG is part of the NATO Command Structure. It provides all Deployable CIS Capabilities to support Allied Command Operations for its operations, missions and exercises.

For TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 the SSG is comprised of a headquarters element, co-located with the Operational Commander at Joint Force Command Naples. This headquarters will provide Command and Control over the deployed NCISG units and together with the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) will provide the required CIS Network Management functions. By doing so, the SSG will also work with the national Network Control Centres from all participating Nations.

"I am very proud of the excellent contribution the men and women of the NATO CIS Group are making to NATO's largest exercise in recent years. Their dedication and professionalism ensures the timely provision of CIS services for the exercise," said Major General Wolfgang Renner, Commander NCISG.

To provide the Deployable CIS support to all deployed headquarters, 14 mobile CIS Units are located across Europe, mainly in Norway. TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 is being held in central and eastern Norway, the surrounding areas of the North Atlantic and Baltic Sea, including Iceland and the airspace of Finland and Sweden.

In total, NCISG is deploying more than 400 soldiers and civilian personnel to support NATO's biggest exercise in recent years.
