Major General Renner assumes command of NATO Communication and Information Systems Group
MONS, Belgium – Major General
Wolfgang Renner assumed command of the NATO Communication and Information
Systems Group from Major General Walter Huhn during a ceremony presided over by
General (Sir) James Everard, the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, at
Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe on March 19, 2018.
Major General Huhn, who assumed command
of NCISG on July 24, 2015, guided the Group through multiple demanding
challenges including the introduction of new communication and information
systems equipment, exercises Trident Juncture 2015, Trident Javelin 2017, the Steadfast
Cobalt series of exercises and multiple stages of internal adaptation.
"When I look back and recall these
achievements, I need to underline that all personnel in NCISG can be proud of
their individual contributions,” said Major General Huhn. "This clearly is a team effort - involving
everybody within NCISG, but also our supported commands and forces and the NATO
Agencies.”
Major General Renner, the former commander
of the German Armed Forces Command Information Systems Services Center in
Rheinbach, Germany, thanked Major General Huhn and his personnel for a job well
done.
"It is my honor and privilege to
have you here,” said Major General Renner. "I am looking forward to work with
you in supporting Alliance Operations and Missions by tackling the challenging
tasks ahead.”
