Young Russian professionals and experts visit SHAPE

MONS, BELGIUM – Fifteen senior students and professionals from Russia visited Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe on Monday, May 30, 2017 where they were briefed on Allied Command Operations.

The visiting group was comprised of young journalists who are contributing to federal and local media, specialists in public relations, media communications, international project management as well as, senior and postgraduate student whose focus is on NATO-Russia relations.

"I always value and enjoy meeting Russian groups, and as ever this was a robust but thoughtful discussion and exchange of views," said Mark Laity, Strategic Communications Advisor to SACEUR. "I think we understand each other a little better and these were impressive young leaders," he added.

Previously, the students visited NATO HQ in Brussels for discussions at the political level on NATO-Russia Relations, current operations, and hybrid and cyber threats.

SHAPE briefings focused on military operations and activities and Allied Command Operation perspective on NATO-Russia relations.
