MONS, Belgium – NATO's Permanent Representatives visited Supreme
Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 to take
part in a series of briefings and roundtable discussions with SHAPE senior leaders.
General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, the Supreme Allied Commander
Europe, provided insight on the current priorities for Allied Command
Operations with dialogue focusing mainly on deterrence posture and projecting
stability.
"To ensure the Alliance is trained and ready for today's
evolving security environment, it is important to have discussions with NATO's
political leaders about key efforts such as Forward Presence, Projecting
Stability and NCS Adaptation," said General Scaparrotti. "Our troops must remain
robust and agile."
NATO's Permanent Representatives sit on the North Atlantic
Council, the principal political decision-making body, and is supported by a
national delegation composed of advisers and officials who represent their
