MONS, Belgium - NATO Permanent Representatives visited Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) on April 27, 2017 to tour the headquarters and meet with senior military staff.

Hosted by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, the group of delegates visited the Comprehensive Crisis and Operations Management Centre seeing first hand CCOMC’s facilities and meeting key staff.

The CCOMC’s work contributes to an understanding of the full breadth of the crisis spectrum; identifying crisis and assessing their impact on the Alliance’s security and other crises while strategically directing ongoing NATO operations in order to deliver comprehensive outcomes.

Following the tour, General Scaparrotti and the NATO Permanent Representatives participated in a short panel discussion focused on the future of Alliance operations, deterrence measures and the importance of standing united to all threats against NATO.

This visit provided the NATO Permanent Representatives a more comprehensive understanding on how the components within SHAPE execute plans and programs focused on evolving security threats and deterrence measures.

Each NATO member country has a delegation at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and contributes to the consultation process, which allows NATO to take collective decisions or actions.  The responsibility and task of each delegation is to represent its member country at NATO. The authority of each delegation comes from its home country's government. It acts on instruction from its capital and reports back on NATO decisions and projects.
