MONS, Belgium - Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) welcomed a high-level delegation from The Netherlands Ministry of Defence on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, where they were briefed on all areas of Allied Command Operations.
The delegation, which encompassed Dutch Generals and senior Ministry of Defence officials, took part in round table discussions throughout the day, including a visit to the NATO Special Operations Headquarters (NSHQ) and the Comprehensive Crisis and Operations Management Centre (CCOMC).
"This visit is in the interest of both the Netherlands as well as SHAPE to enhance mutual situational awareness and understanding," said the National Military Representative of The Netherlands at SHAPE, Captain (N) Georges van Aalst.
Van Aalst added that visits by senior military and civilian officials from the Dutch Ministry of Defence will become a regular occurrence at SHAPE in order to maintain situational awareness on NATO operations. Before heading back to The Netherlands the group met with Dutch military personnel currently stationed at the headquarters.
