eFP Latvia concludes Integration Capstone Exercise
ĀDAŽI, Latvia– Enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia has wrapped up Integration
Capstone Exercise (ICE 1901), an exercise involving 10 NATO nations, held at
Camp Ādaži, Latvia from Feb. 21 - 26, 2019.
For the first time this year all
enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battlegroup contingents worked together as one,
with a coordinated and united approach, demonstrating their joint
capabilities.
"My first impressions of the
professionalism and motivation of the eFP BG have been confirmed through our
training. Our teamwork has demonstrated our cohesion and interoperability
should we be required to defend Latvia. The integrated capstone exercise
confirmed our readiness and more specifically our ability to work together as
one team within the Latvian Mechanized Infantry Brigade,” said Lieutenant
Colonel Philippe Sauvé, Commanding Officer, Enhanced Forward Presence Battle
Group Latvia.
ICE 1901 is designed to train eFP
military personnel in cold winter weather conditions with a goal to
engage and hold the enemy until reinforcements from the Very High Readiness
Joint Task Force (VJTF) arrive.
Albania, Canada,
Czech Republic, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain
took part in the exercise.
