NATO's top senior enlisted leaders visit RS

MONS, Belgium - NATO's top senior enlisted leaders visited the Resolute Support Mission last week, engaging with Alliance, coalition and partner nation trainers and Afghan troops.

Command Sergeant Major Davor Petek, Allied Command Operations Command Senior Enlisted Leader and Command Chief Master Sergeant Jack Johnson, Allied Command Transformation CSEL joined RS CSEL Command Sergeant Major David Clark on a week long tour of Bagram, Kandahar, Helmand, Kabul and other areas across the country.

"This was a great opportunity to engage with not only our Alliance troops but with partner, coalition and Afghan service members,” said Petek. "The goal of our trip is to see what the conditions are like on the ground from an enlisted perspective.

"We have found many times that troops are more willing to engage and talk about challenges they are currently facing when they have the opportunity to speak with enlisted leaders. At every location we've meet with our troops, we have seen what an outstanding job they've been doing with our ANA partners providing them with TAA and ensuring troop readiness. Seeing an multitude of NATO and Partner nations working hand in hand in support of our mission in Afghanistan, confirmed that we are making a tremendous difference for our Afghan partners", he added.

The opportunity to personally engage troops gave a clearer picture of how the Afghan Security and Defence Force are coming along.

"The ANSF are making 'quantifiable' advances across a full spectrum of areas impacting their combat capabilities, education and training and partnerships with Allied and Coalition members,” said Johnson. "These advancements are having a direct affect on Afghanistan and its people!"
