As part of the NATO Response Force (NRF) rotation for 2022, the Italian Joint Special Forces Operations HQ (JSFO HQ) is frameworking the Special Operations Component Command (SOCC).

The JSFO HQ, established in 2004, is the Italian command responsible for the planning and execution of special operations, that may include special reconnaissance, direct actions and military assistance.

The NRF22 ITA SOCC is a tactical component, deployable on a short notice anywhere in the world, capable to generate operational or strategic effects.

ITA SOCC is a multinational and joint component, meaning it includes either units from the national Special Operations Forces (SOF) units (Army, Navy, Air Force and Carabinieri) or SOF units from other NATO nations (SOCC staff counts alone 8 NATO nations). As the doctrine goes, special operations are joint in nature and multinational in a NATO environment.

ITA SOCC is now participating in Exercise Brilliant Jump 2022.  They deployed to Norway on Mar. 8 in order to set up a Special Operations Component Command Response Cell.
