Colonel Miodrag Vuksanović assumed duties as Montenegro National Military representative in SHAPE in September 2021. Prior to that, from August 2020 to September 2021, Colonel Vuksanović was appointed as the Strategic Operations Centre (SOC) Watch Director within SHAPE's Comprehensive Crisis and Operations Management Centre (CCOMC).
From 2018 to 2020, Colonel Vuksanović headed the Strategic Defense Planning Division in the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro, responsible for the national defence planning and its coordination within NATO Defence Planning Process (NDPP). In addition, his job description included crisis management and contingency planning in the defence sector including national preparations for participation in NATO Crisis Management Exercises (CMX-19 and CMX-21).
However, most of his career Colonel Vuksanović spent as military intelligence officer, holding different leadership positions from the tactical to the operational and strategic level. His previous duties include: the Head of the General Staff Command and Operations Center; the Army Training Center Commander; the Head of G-2 Department in the General Staff; the Head of Analytics Section in G2 Department; MI Deputy Battalion Commander, platoon and company commander.
Colonel Vuksanović received his commission in 1997 as a graduate of the Army Military Academy. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College (Class 2010) and the distinguished graduate of the US Army War College (Class 2016). In parallel to attending USAWC, he completed additional requirements established by the USAWC and was awarded a Master of Strategic Studies Degree.
During his career he attended and successfully finished multiple training programs, to include: Combined Strategic Intelligence Training Program (CSITP), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), USA; International Intelligence Training Program, National Intelligence University (NIU), USA; Senior Officers Intelligence Course, Joint Intelligence Training Centre, France; Exercise Planning Process Course, Canadian Directorate of Military Training and Cooperation,
Montenegro; Doctrine Writing Course, The Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre, Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom, United Kingdom; and NATO Crisis Response System Course for Experts, NATO School Oberammergau, Germany.
He completed one tour in ISAF mission in Afghanistan, where he was assigned to CJ2 Section, Regional Command North HQ (August 2011 – March 2012). For the results achieved during his tour Commander RC North awarded him a certificate and a letter of commendation.
Colonel Miodrag Vuksanović is married to Milijana Vuksanović, with two daughters, Nadja and Andjela.
