Luxembourg National Military Representative

Lieutenant Colonel Pascal Pütz

Pascal Pütz was born in Luxembourg in 1971.

In 1996, he graduated from the French Military Academy "École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr" (class of 1993-1996) with a master's degree in International Relations.

In 1997, following his training as an Infantry and Reconnaissance officer at the French Infantry School in Montpellier, he joined the "Centre d'instruction militaire" in Luxembourg where he followed his early career as a Reconnaissance Platoon commander and Instructor (1997-2003), with operational deployments to Bosnia (SFOR 1998/99) and Kosovo (KFOR 2000/01).

After accomplishment of the French Army Staff Officer course in Compiegne in 2003, he was appointed Reconnaissance Company Commander from 2003 to 2005 before being designated Head of the Luxembourg Arms Control Agency. As such, he led several multinational CFE inspection teams between 2005 and 2007, in particular into the Russian Federation.

Following his tour as a Battalion S3 from 2007 to 2008, he deployed to Lebanon in February 2008, where he served as the Chief Tactical Operations Commander of the UNIFIL – BELUBAT II contingent.

Upon return, he joined the European Union Military Staff as a Senior National Expert in the Chairman of the Military Committee Support Branch from 2008 to 2012.

Lieutenant-Colonel Pascal Pütz graduated from the Belgian Royal Military Academy General Staff Officers course in 2013, where he obtained a "Master ès arts en sciences politiques et militaires" (Master 2).

Assistant Planner within the Luxembourg General Staff from 2013 to 2014, he was designated Head of Plans in January 2015. As such, he contributed to the Luxembourg Defense reorganization effort, consequently to the 2014 Wales NATO Summit.

In June 2016, Lieutenant-Colonel Pascal Pütz was nominated "Aide-de-Camp en service extraordinaire auprès de la Maison Grand-Ducale".

From September 2017 to August 2019, he was the Military Assistant to the Chief of Defense.

He was the Deputy Military Representative to the EUMC from September 2019 to August 2020.

Pascal Pütz has 2 daughters and 2 sons. He enjoys mountain trekking, climbing and skiing.
