Brigadier General Erwan Rolland

BG Erwan ROLLAND was born on the 8th of June 1969 in Fontenay-aux-Roses. He is married and the father of three children.

He attended the Saint-Cyr Military Academy within the "General GUILLAUME class" (1990-1993) and chose the Signal Branch. He then completed the Junior Officer's Course (1993-1994) in the CIS School in Montargy and chose, upon graduation the Marine Corps.

He was then appointed to the 6th Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment in Mont de Marsan. During this period, he was deployed to Lebanon and to Former Yugoslavia.

In 1996 he moved to the 33rd Marine Infantry Regiment in Martinique as CIS Detachment Leader and as Deputy Commander of the Joint Command for CIS in French Antilles. He was promoted to Captain in 1997.

BG ROLLAND was transferred in 1998 to the 41st Signal Regiment in SENLIS. He attended the Captain's course in the United States of America and was then given the command of the 3rd Company. During this period, he was deployed at the head of the company to the United Arab Emirates and to Qatar in support to the French Joint HQ.

In 2002, he was appointed to the Military High School in Aix en Provence as cadets' company commander in charge of the preparatory class for entrance to the Higher Military Academies. He was promoted to Major in 2004.

He was admitted by competitive examination to the Higher Military Education and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2004. He attended the 118th Class of the Higher Command and then attended the Advanced College and Staff Course within the 11th Class.

He was appointed in 2006 to the CIS Directorate as Staff Officer within the Strategy Department. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 2007.

In 2009, he was transferred to the 48th Signal Regiment in Agen as S3 Chief. He was deployed to Lebanon in 2010 in the framework of OP DAMAN as head of the Theatre Joint CIS.

He was appointed in 2011 to the Joint Force Command (Paris) as OPS Studies Staff-Officer within the doctrine division. He is promoted to the rank of Colonel in 2011.

He assumed command of the 28th Signal Regiment in lssoire from 2013 to 2015. During this period, he was engaged in CHAD as Joint CIS Battle Group Commander in the framework of the OP BARKHANE.

From 2015 to 2016, he served in the OPS division of the Joint Directorate of Infrastructure Networks and Information Systems. In 2016, he was appointed auditor for the 66th class of the College of Higher Military Studies and for the 69th class of the Institute of Advanced Studies in National Defence. He was then transferred in 2017 to the Joint Force Command within Capacity Coherence Division.

The 1st August 2020, BG ROLLAND served as Ops Deputy Commander of the French Army CIS command and was nominated as Brigadier the 1st of September, 2020.

The 1st August 2022, he was appointed as French National Military Representative to SHAPE.
