Bio / Decorations

Rear Admiral Gunnstein Bruåsdal is from Bergen and was born 18. October 1966. He started his military career in the Airforce in 1985 but converted and graduated from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy in 1989. 1 August 2022 he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff at Partnership Directorate at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, with the rank of Rear Admiral.

In his early career he served on board various missile torpedo boats as logistic officer for the squadron. He later served in various posts at the naval material command and at the Joint Defence staff. In 2005 he was posted as a staff officer at Joint Command Lisbon within logistics. An opportunity to support all different kinds of missions within the NATO framework at a joint level.

In 2011 he was nominated to the positions as commander Logistic service, at the Royal Norwegian Fleet with the rank of Commander (SG). A position involving afloat logistic support to the entire Fleet. He earned his rank as Captain (N) at the Naval staff in 2014with the responsibility of resources and operations. 1 January 2019 he was selected DCOM/Chief of staff of the Royal Norwegian Navy, a position he held until July 2022.

In his spare time, he enjoys time with the family, hiking and constantly rebuilding his house.
