Major General Rainer Beeck assumed his duties as Deputy Chief of Staff Cyberspace Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and Commander NATO CIS Group on 17 February 2025. His previous assignment was located in Bonn where he served as the Deputy Director Operations and Bundeswehr J6, Cyber and Information Domain Service Headquarters.
Major General Beeck joined the Bundeswehr in 1989. His commands include the Signal Battalion 282 in Lahnstein, the Bundeswehr Communication and Information Systems Service Centre in Rheinbach and his assignment as Chief of Staff of the 1st Armoured Division.
He has been appointed to numerous staff positions with primary focus in the Communication and Information Systems (CIS) and the operations field.
In 2013 Major General Beeck served as the Military assistant to the Chief of the Joint Support Service in Bonn. His assignment as Deputy Chief of Staff Command Support Command of the Bundeswehr followed in 2015.
In 2004 he graduated from the 45th General Staff Course of the Army in Hamburg and in 2006 from the Joint General Staff Course of the École Militaire in Paris.
After his graduation from the École Militaire, Major General Beeck was assigned as Deputy Section Chief G3 in the Eurocorps Headquarter in Straßburg,
Major General Rainer Beeck’s first oversea deployment was in 1997 for the SFOR mission in Croatia. Other missions for ISAF and RESOLUTE SUPPORT followed.
His awards include the Cross of Honour of the German Armed Forces, the French National Defence Medal, the Medal of the German Armed Forces and the NATO Medal for Commitment for serving in SFOR, ISAF and RSM. His other awards include the K.N.B.L.O. Cross from The Netherlands and the Commander of the Order of Merit from the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg.
Major General Beeck is married and has two grown-up daughters.
